Olaf Klose

Olaf Klose (born January 13, 1903 in Doberan ; † March 22, 1987 ) was a German art historian and librarian .

Live and act

Olaf Klose studied history , art history and Nordic languages . In 1929 he started working on Family Relations in Iceland. Before the conversion to Christianity due to the Islendingasögur at the University of Leipzig to the Dr. phil. PhD . He then worked in libraries in Kiel , Berlin , Marburg and Copenhagen .

From 1949 to 1970 he was director of the Schleswig-Holstein State Library in Kiel. He was also secretary of the "Society for Schleswig-Holstein History" and, as the successor to Volquart Pauls (later with Wolfgang Prange ), editor of the journal of the Society for Schleswig-Holstein History .

Awards

• 1968: Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class
• University medal from the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel
• 1969: Honorary Professor of the State of Schleswig-Holstein in recognition of his services to the library system in Schleswig-Holstein and to research into Schleswig-Holstein's history
