The AP Møller Skolen is a Danish high school in the northern German town of Schleswig , which was opened on 1 September, 2008. As the second grammar school for the Danish minority in Germany, the school relieves the Duborg-Skolen in Flensburg, which has existed since 1920 .
Basics
The 15,000 square meter building was built on a 10.4 hectare plot of land in the Schleswig district of Auf der Freiheit (Danish: På Friheden ) east of the city center directly on the Schlei (Danish: Slien ) and Holmer Noor (Danish: Holm Nor ) built. It houses a community school for the 7th to 10th grades and an upper secondary school for the 11th to 13th grades. The school accepts a total of around 500 students. The other two Danish schools in the city, the Gottorp-Skole and the Hiort-Lorenzen-Skole, have since been used as primary schools up to the 6th grade.
history
The name has been fixed since the foundation stone was laid on May 3, 2007; the school is named after Arnold Peter Møller and bears the name AP Møller-Skolen (also written AP Møller Skolen , but this does not comply with the Danish spelling rules). Rector of the school has been the previous head of the Institute for Border Region Research in Aabenraa , Jørgen Kühl , since August 1st, 2006 .
The high school is a gift worth 60 million euros from the private foundation of the Danish shipowner Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller to the Danish minority in Schleswig , which the shipowner has been supporting for years, including with new buildings. As with many of his other projects, the founder personally selected the plot of land and helped design the building. The additional costs associated with running a second Danish grammar school are to be covered by the Danish state.
The construction period was 2006-2008. The new building was based on a design by the architects CF Møller A / S , project and construction management was carried out by Lindø byg A / S , and landscape planning by Kessler & Krämer landscape architects .
The 873rd episode of the television series Tatort , Borowski and the Burning Man from May 12, 2013, takes place at AP Møller-Skolen, among others.
