On freedom
Auf der Freiheit ( Danish : Friheden ) is a district of the city of Schleswig . The district extends east of the spar and the Holmer Noor on the north bank of the small width of the loop . The municipality of Fahrdorf is located on the Schleiufer opposite the Freiheit .
history
In the early modern period , freedom was mainly used as pasture. From 1604 there was a first practice area for target practice for the townspeople on the Freiheit. During the Thirty Years' War , Lüneburg troops set up a star jump there. During the last waves of the plague in 1628 and 1712, the dead were also buried there. The place was also used for executions with the gallows erected by the Danish military in 1684 . After the war against Denmark in 1866, Prussian troops used the area as a riding and military training area . Until 1926 there was also a sports field on the Freiheit . The section on the Schlei was a popular stretch of beach. After the seizure of power by the National Socialists , the site was from the Reichswehr accepted and the on-site barracks on the freedom established.
After the barracks had been abandoned, the site was sold to a private project development group, Team Vivendi GmbH & Co. KG, following a tendering process. This is realizing a new district on the 56 hectare property. The Danish grammar school , several residential buildings and properties with condominiums have now been built. A total of around 600 residential units are to be built. The first residents of the new Schleswig district of Auf der Freiheit moved in in 2010. Art and culture, for example in the form of Heimat and Cultura Vivendi eV, are already taking place on the freedom today . Furthermore, a thermal bath is planned, the construction of which was delayed due to administrative and cost problems. In February 2012, the city of Schleswig finally withdrew from the thermal baths project. In contrast, the project development group is sticking to the health spa. The 150-year-old Dutch mill Nicola, which previously stood near Rendsburg , at that time as the “Margarethe” mill, is being rebuilt at the site of the rain retention basin . A modern Buddhist monastery is being built right next to it .
In the winter of 2012, scenes for the Tatort episode Borowski and the Burning Man were filmed at Freiheit .
