Location of the municipality of Fahrdorf in the Schleswig-Flensburg district | ||
Fahrdorf ( Danish Fartorp ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in northern Schleswig-Holstein .
Since there are many villas in the municipality, which is opposite Schleswig an der Schlei , the place is called the " Blankenese von Schleswig" based on the Hamburg villa district .
The district Loopstedt ( Danish Lopsted ) on the Haddebyer Noor belongs to the municipality .
geography
Fahrdorf is located on the southern bank of the Kleine Width of the Schlei and on the western edge of the Schleswig-Holstein hill country . The place has lost its original form of settlement as a street village in the last few decades and has grown to the federal highway 76 in the south .
history
In 1575 the village was first mentioned as Vardorp (village at the crossing point) . In the Middle Ages Fahrdorf was subordinate to the St. Johannis monastery in front of Schleswig .
According to a Danish legend , St. Christopher is said to have carried the baby Jesus from here on his shoulders over the Schlei to Schleswig.
Between 1780 and 1800 the coupling was carried out in Fahrdorf as in the rest of the Duchy of Schleswig . After the German-Danish War of 1864 Fahrdorf came to Prussia as part of the Duchy of Schleswig .
When the war dead in northern Schleswig-Holstein were reburied in Fahrdorf in 1957 by order of the state government, the cemetery of honor at Haddebyer Noor was built on the Karberg .
politics
Community representation
Of the 13 seats in the municipal council , the CDU has seven seats since the 2013 local elections, the SPD four and the SSW two.

coat of arms
Blazon : “In silver over blue-silver waves, a red ferry boat, which is topped with a red beacon. This consists of a mast with a spherical basket at the top. The mast is covered by two crossed red oars. "
A ferry , which consisted of a rowing boat, led from Schwansen over the Schlei to Schleswig. As it was only intended for pedestrian traffic, the ferry connection was important until the car replaced the pedestrian. The hoisting of the basket was the simple visual signal for the ferryman that passengers were waiting. Today this ferry no longer exists; However, it gave the village its name and made the place known as a crossing point. The waves should show the location of the village on the Schlei.
economy
Residential developments predominate in the north of the municipality. In Fahrdorf there are shops as well as various smaller service and handicraft businesses.

Resident sports clubs are the Turn- und Sportverein Fahrdorf (TSV) , the FC Haddeby 04 , the sailing clubs Fahrdorfer Segelverein (FSV) and sailing club Fahrdorf (SCF) , the Fahrdorfer Reitverein as well as the sport shooters in Fahrdorf and the surrounding area .
