Langballig ( Danish Langballe ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is the administrative seat of the office of the same name . Freienwillen (Danish: Langballegård ), Hohenau, Langballigau ( Langballeå ), Langballigholz ( Langballeskov ), Langballigkaten ( Langballekaad ), Trolljunker, Unewatt ( Undevad ), Unewattfeld ( Undevadmark ) and Unewatt Hof ( Undevadgaard ) belong to the municipality.

Langballig lies on the Flensburg Fjord in the north of the landscape fishing . The community has been a recognized climatic health resort since 1988.

In the municipality there is a natural beach, a nature reserve, the Langballigau valley with its rare plant and bird species. Langballigau is a protective and fishing port that was built in the 1920s as a fishing port and is now mainly used by sailors. The sea ​​rescue boat Werner Kuntze of the DGzRS is also located here .

The place was first mentioned in 1450 as Langballech or Langballe . The place name goes back to old Danish balgh (cf. Old Norse bali ) as a description of an elevation or an (elevated) part of a village (cf. Balm ).

In the village competition " Our village should be more beautiful - our village has a future ", the municipality won the 1997 state winner and in 1998 was awarded the silver plaque as the second most beautiful place in Germany. In 2004, the municipality was state winner in the "Environmentally friendly municipality" competition
