Osterby ( Danish : Østerby ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . Osterbylund and Osterbyfeld are in the municipality.

Geographical location

Osterby is located about 16 km west of Flensburg in the area of ​​the Sanders of the Schleswig Geest in a rural area. The eastern boundary of the municipality is formed by the Wallsbek brook . In the transition to the Danish municipality of Aabenraa in the northeast is the Osterbyer Moor , the part of the Fröslev-Jardelunder Moors belonging to the municipality .

The municipal area is designated as a reserve area for nature and landscape within the state development plan of the state of Schleswig-Holstein 2010 (LEP 2010).

Community representation

The KWGO electoral community has had eight seats in the municipal council since the 2013 local elections. The ninth seat in the municipal council, which is also due to the KWGO after the election result, remains empty in the current electoral period because there were not enough applicants on the list (Section 10 (5) sentence 2 of the law on elections in the municipalities and districts in Schleswig -Holstein).

Osterby is located off the federal trunk road network. The connection of the place in motorized individual traffic takes place over the Schleswig-Holstein state road 1 . This creates a cross connection between federal highway 5 in Süderlügum and federal highway 199 in Wallsbüll . It leads directly through the village of Osterby.

In public transport , Osterby is connected to Wallsbüll by bus route 1540 within the Schleswig-Holstein local transport network. Operation on this line is carried out by the bus company Rohde Verkehrsbetriebe roughly every two hours . In Wallsbüll there is a walkable transition to the Autokraft express bus between Flensburg and Niebüll (line: R1).
