Schnarup-Thumby ( Danish : Snarup-Tumby ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . It was formed on February 28, 1970 by merging the parishes Schnarup and Thumby. Eslingholz ( Eslingholt ), Klaholz ( Klåholt ), Köhnholz ( Kønholt ), Lüttholm, Schnarup ( Snarup ), Thumby ( Tumby ), Thumby-West, Thumbyfeld ( Tumbymark ) and Thumbyhassel ( Hessel ) are in the municipality.
Geography and traffic
Schnarup-Thumby is located in the geographic center of the fishing landscape , about 17 km northeast of Schleswig and 17 km west of Kappeln in a rural area. The federal highway 7 runs to the west from Schleswig to Flensburg , to the south the federal highway 201 from Kappeln to Husum and to the north the federal highway 199 from Kappeln to Flensburg.

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the constituency AWG had five seats and the constituency FWG four since the local elections in 2008. In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the AWG received six seats and the FWG three seats.

Andreas Bonde (AWG) was elected mayor to succeed Martin Thomsen for the 2013–2018 election period.
Attractions

The oldest building in the parish is the small Romanesque church in Thumby, which still has its free-standing wooden bell tower .
