coat of arms

Blazon : "In blue under a golden bronze ax, a lowered corrugated rafter with openwork and pointed ends, underneath a golden spiral bracelet."

Ahneby has had the municipal coat of arms since October 2006. The bracelet and the hatchet are intended to illustrate the early settlement of the Ahnebys. In addition, the Anglo-Irish style of the ax stands for clearing, development and agriculture , handicrafts and trade. Its importance as a weapon and the tourism aspect as a souvenir should also be emphasized. The spiral bracelet represents the need for unity, cohesion, prosperity and happiness.

The wave rafter indicates the Ahnebyer watershed . Blue and silver are taken from the coat of arms of the historical Nieharde . The gold has its origin in the St. Andrew's Cross on the coat of arms of the Steinberg Church community , which emphasizes its affiliation with it.

Economy and Infrastructure

In the originally agricultural community, more and more residential areas are emerging.

The nearest train station is Sörup , about six kilometers west of Ahneby on the Kiel – Flensburg railway line .
