politics

Community representation

coat of arms

Blazon : "Under a golden shield head, inside a left-turning, prehistoric blue hook plow, in blue a lidless golden butter churn with a golden carnation stick inside."

The folk etymological interpretation of the place name brings "Hackstedt" together with "Haken". The hook plow as a heraldic figure not only represents the place name in a "talking" coat of arms, but also traditional agriculture. In contrast to the surrounding, mostly sandy geest , the local area has clay soil, which is particularly suitable for growing grain. The butter churn as the second coat of arms indicates that a dairy farm was located in Ort very early on . In contrast to the domestic dairy farming, which is based on personal needs, the dairy farms produced for sale. Initially, there was only a private büttenmeierei; this was converted into a cooperative in 1885. The coat of arms is set in the Schleswig colors of blue and yellow.

economy

With 18 full-time farms, dairy farming is the municipality's most important line of business. This applies both to the farms and to DMK (formerly Nordmilch ), the largest company represented in the town that exclusively produces cheese in Nordhackstedt . A dairy has existed in the village since 1875.
