Sucha Beskidzka [ 'suxa bɛs'ciʦka ] (until 1965 only Sucha ) is a small town and seat of the Sucha County in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland .

Sucha Beskidzka is 44 km southwest of Kraków and 39 km east of Bielsko-Biała at the foot of the Makow Beskids on the Skawa River.
The city has an area of 27.46 km². 44% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 43% is covered with forest.
history
The first written mention of Sucha Beskidzka comes from the year 1405. From 1554 to 1580 the Renaissance castle Sucha was built, which was the seat of the Sucha country from 1608 to 1944 .
In 1939 Sucha Beskidzka had 6,200 inhabitants. At the beginning of September of the same year the city was occupied by German troops.
Since 1963, the city of Sucha has had the addition “Beskidzka” (in German: Beskid or located in the Beskids ) in its name. From 1956 to 1975 the city was the seat of the Powiat Suski. In the course of an administrative reform in 1975 Sucha Beskidzka came to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship until 1998 and lost its status as a district town. She received this back on January 1, 1999.
