The Makower Beskids ( Polish Beskid Makowski ), formerly Middle Beskids ( Polish Beskid Średni ) are a mountain range of the West Beskids in Poland in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . They are named after the city of Maków Podhalański .

geography

According to Jerzy Kondracki , the borders of the Central Beskids are:

  • to the west: Głuchaczki pass on the Polish-Slovakian border, along the Przybyłka brook and the Koszarawa river, including the Pewelskie ridge ( Pasmo Pewelskie ) to Skawce
  • in the north: including the Babica ridge to Myślenice
  • in the east: south of Myślenice along the Raba and Krzczonówka
  • in the south: from the upper Skawa to the mouth of the Skawica, along Skawica to the Jałowiecka Północna pass on the border with Slovakia

With these limits the mountain range was about 900 km², length about 60 km and width 15 km. Other maps and guidebooks can often define other boundaries and sometimes consider the part southwest of the Skawa with the Przedbabiogórskie ridge (including Mędralowa ) as part of the Saybuscher Beskids .

The towns on the outskirts are: Maków Podhalański (namesake), Sucha Beskidzka , Kalwaria Zebrzydowska , Myślenice.
