The Saybuscher Beskids ( Polish Beskid Żywiecki ) are a mountain range of the West Beskids in Poland .

geography

The Saybuscher Beskids extend southwest of the city of Żywiec in the border area between Poland and Slovakia. The adjacent mountains on the Slovak side are Kysucké Beskydy ( Kischützer Beskydy ) and Oravské Beskydy .

To the northwest, the Saybuscher Beskids merge into the Kotlina Żywiecka ( Saybuscher Basin ) and to the north into the Beskid Mały ( Little Beskids ) and Beskid Makowski ( Central Beskids ). In the west, the Przełęcz Zwardońska ( Zwardońer Pass ) forms the border with Zwardoń and the Silesian Beskids .

The highest elevations are:

  1. Babia Góra / Diablak ( 1725  m npm ).
  2. Gówniak ( 1617  m npm )
  3. Pilsko ( 1557  m npm )

Other important elevations: Mała Babia Góra / Cyl ( 1515  m npm ), Polica ( 1369  m npm ), Sokolica ( 1367  m npm ), Romanka ( 1366  m npm ), Lipowski Wierch ( 1324  m npm ), Wielka Racza ( 1236  m npm ), Wielka Rycerzowa ( 1226  m npm ).

The Saybuscher Beskids can be divided into the following mountain ridges:

  • Western part between Zwardoń Pass and Głuchaczki Pass:
    • Wielka Racza Group ( Grupa Wielkiej Raczy ), also known as the Racza Sack ( Worek Raczański )
    • Nest of the Pilsko, Romanka and Lipowski Wierch ( Gniazdo Pilska, Romanki i Lipowskiego Wierchu )
  • Eastern part:
    • Babia Góra comb ( Pasmo Babiogórskie ), with a polica comb
    • Orawa-Podhale Comb ( Pasmo Orawsko-Podhalańskie )

Protected areas

In 1954 the Babia Góra National Park was established.

The Saybusche Landscape Protection Park was founded in 1986 and has an area of ​​358.70 km².
