The Polica massif |
The Polica is a 1369 m high mountain in the Saybuscher Beskids (Beskid Żywiecki) in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . The mountain is located on the European main watershed on the border of the powiat Nowotarski to the powiat Suski northeast of the mountain Babia Góra in the area of the Gmina Zawoja . A 58.73 hectare nature reserve ( Rezerwat przyrody na Policy im. Prof. Zenona Klemensiewicza ) is set up on the Polica .
history
Until the end of the First World War , the Polica lay on the border between the crown land of Galicia and Hungary and only became part of Poland as a result of the division of the Arwa area , the former Hungarian Arwa County .
On 2 April 1969 24 An-collided a fully staffed Antonov of LOT with the mountain. In 2003 and 2009 a plaque and a memorial were erected at the crash site.
Access
Two marked trails lead to the Polica: from Bystra over the Okrąglica mountain ( 1239 m ; red marking) and on to the Przełęcz Krowiarki pass on the 957 voivodeship road, and from the Przełęcz Zubrzycka pass (blue marking).
