Zawoja is a village in the powiat Suski in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with around 9100 inhabitants.

geography

Zawoja is about 27 km south of Wadowice on the Skawica . North of the Babia Góra massif (1725 m) it is the seat of the Babia Góra National Park .

history

The first written mention of Zawoja comes from the year 1646. What is certain is that the village was previously part of Skawica and called "Skawica Górna".

From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
