Sokolica (Saybuscher Beskids)

Sokolica , German Falkenberg , is a 1367 meter high mountain in Poland in the Saybuscher Beskids . A mountain of the same name is located in the Pieninki .

The summit is on Polish territory not far from the border with Slovakia . On its top there is a viewing platform with a wide panoramic view from Babia Góra in the southwest over the Silesian Beskids in the northwest, the Little Beskids in the north to the Makov Beskids in the northeast.

The mountain is located in the Babia Góra National Park . The main European watershed between the Black Sea ( Danube ) and the Baltic Sea ( Vistula ) runs over the mountain . Several hiking trails lead up the mountain, including the Beskydy main hiking trail and the nature lovers trail from the Markowe-Szczawiny hut . The name goes back to a golden eagle here in the 19th century who was mistaken for a hawk.
