The national road DK28 (pl. Droga krajowa - DK 28 , Poland ) leads from the town of Zator to Przemyśl - Medyka on the Ukrainian border . The 350 km long connection opens up the foothills of the Beskydy Mountains with the Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian Voivodeships and connects the Upper Silesian industrial area with the Ukraine.

history

Until 1918, this line belonged entirely to the Austrian crown land of Galicia . The Tatra Imperial Road led from Bielsko-Biała via Żywiec , Sucha Beskidzka and Sanok to Sambor in today's Ukraine. This road was declared a state road (droga państwowa) by the Polish Road Act of December 10, 1920 . The western section of today's DK 28 from Zator via Wadowice to Sucha Beskidzka was declared a state road in 1873 and was used as a voivodship road after Poland's independence. The eastern section of today's DK 28 from Sanok to Przemyśl was classified as a state road in Austrian times and later also as a voivodship road.

In 1985 the Polish road network was reorganized. The previous state roads (droga państwowa) were renamed and renumbered as state roads (droga krajowa) . The road from Zator to Przemyśl was named Droga krajowa No. 98 from 1986 .

In 2003, the numbering of the road network was changed so that the numbers 91-99 were only used for roads that were replaced by parallel motorways. At that time, DK 98 was renamed DK 28.
