The DK61 south of Serock

The Droga krajowa 61 (DK61) is a country road in Poland . It connects Warsaw with the border with Lithuania towards the city of Kaunas . A section (part of the Via Baltica ) is currently being developed as the Droga ekspresowa S61 expressway, partly on a different route, while smaller sections are already in operation.

course

The road begins in Warsaw at the eastern bridgehead of the Vistula Bridge of the DK2 , which is left via a crossing structure to the north, follows the Ulica Wał Miedzeszyński along the right bank of the Vistula, then runs on the Wybreża Szczecińskie to the level of the Vistula Bridge Most Gdański, leaves here Bank of the Vistula, crosses the Droga ekspresowa S8 and continues as a two-lane road to Legionowo . From here it runs north-west to Serock , where the DK62 crosses , and further on the right bank of the Narew to Pułtusk . North of the city, the DK57 branches off to the north. The DK61 continues in a north-easterly direction via Różan am Narew, where the DK60 is crossed, and on to Ostrołęka (Ostrolenka). Here the DK53 branches off to the north . The DK61 reaches the Narew again in Łomża , runs for around 7 kilometers together with the DK63 to the north and then further north via Stawiski (bypass on the Droga ekspresowa S61 already opened) to Szczuczyn , whose bypass is on the S61 in Construction is and where the DK58 joins coming from the west. The DK61 continues to the northeast and crosses the DK65 in Grajewo . Via Rajgród it reaches Augustów , where the DK8 ( European route 67 ) is reached. Further construction as the S61 via Ełk (Lyck) and Suwałki to the Lithuanian border is planned and has already been opened in some sections.

The length of the road is around 257 kilometers.
