The Powiat Augustowski is a powiat (district) in the Polish Podlaskie Voivodeship . The powiat has an area of 1658.27 km², on which 59,252 inhabitants live. The population density is about 36 inhabitants per 1 km². (2015)
history
From 1939 to 1945, the areas of the district under the German district of Sudauen were part of the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the province of East Prussia .
