  • The Droga ekspresowa S52 ( pol. For "expressway S52") is a partly completed, mostly planned expressway in Poland . It was re-established by a government decision of May 19, 2016 and, once completed, will lead from the Polish-Czech border near Cieszyn via Bielsko-Biała to the S7 expressway near Głogoczów and thus the state road 52 between Bielsko-Biała and Głogoczów (S7) replace. Furthermore, the north bypass of Kraków is now being integrated into the expressway network as part of the S52 .

    On August 4, 2016, the establishment of the S52 with the change of the expressways in the Silesian Voivodeship was implemented by the GDDKiA . The section of the S1 expressway between Bielsko-Biała and the border in Cieszyn has been partially rededicated as the S52, while the S1 runs to the Polish-Slovakian border at Zwardoń and replaces the S69 .

    Cieszyn - Bielsko-Biała

    This 33.2 km long section connects Cieszyn with Bielsko-Biała and provides an important link to the Czech motorway network. In several subsections, the new construction or modernization of the former state road 1 to the expressway S1 (today S52) took place in the period from 2002 to 2007. The project costs amounted to 95.7 million euros, of which 71.8 million euros were borne by the EU . The entire length of the section is equipped with two lanes and two lanes and hard lanes in each direction.

    • PL / CZ border crossing - Cieszyn -Zachód junction (5.2 km)
      The construction contract for this subsection was signed on October 2, 2006 between GDDKiA and a consortium consisting of the construction companies Bilfinger Berger Sp. Z oo and Warszawskie Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Drogowych (WPRD) SA. The costs amounted to around 7.3 million euros. The completion took place on September 23, 2007. This involved the modernization of the existing road to the expressway.
    • Cieszyn -Zachód - Międzyświeć junction (6.7 km)
      The construction contract for this subsection was signed on October 2nd, 2002 between GDDKiA and the construction company Budimex Dromex SA . The construction costs amounted to around 21.5 million euros. The completion took place on September 29, 2005, the traffic handover was on October 5, 2005. Seven bridges were erected on this 6.7 km long new building.
    • Międzyświeć - Pogórze ( Skoczów bypass ; 5.4 km)
      The construction contract for this subsection was signed on June 4, 2003 between GDDKiA and a consortium consisting of the construction companies PRInż SA and Hydrobudowa SA. The construction costs amounted to around 17.9 million euros. Completion was scheduled for September 2005. Due to the bankruptcy of the construction company PRInż SA, the contract was terminated at the end of May 2006 and a new tender was carried out. The second construction contract was signed on November 7, 2006 with a consortium consisting of the construction companies Dragados SA and Polimex-Mostostal SA . The construction costs amounted to around 21.4 million euros. The completion took place on November 20, 2007, the traffic handover on November 23, 2007. As part of the new construction of a 5.4 km long expressway, 11 bridge structures and a new node were built.
    • Pogórze - Świętoszówka junction ( Grodziec bypass ; 4.9 km)
      The construction contract for this subsection was signed on November 15, 2004 between GDDKiA and the construction company Skanska SA . The construction costs amounted to around 22.6 million euros. The completion took place on November 27, 2006, the traffic handover on December 18, 2006. 7 bridges were erected on this 4.9 km long new building.
    • Świętoszówka junction - Bielsko-Biała-Komorowice junction (11 km)
      The construction contract for this subsection was signed on June 4, 2003 between GDDKiA and the construction company Budimex Dromex SA . The construction costs amounted to around 17.6 million euros. The completion took place on October 27, 2006, the traffic handover was already on August 11, 2006. This involved the expansion of the existing road into an expressway. In addition to 22 bridge structures, three nodes and 10 km of parallel local roads and were built.

    The 11.9 km north-east bypass of Bielsko-Biała , which was built along the S1 and S52 expressways , was created by a consortium consisting of the construction companies Hermann Kirchner Sp. Z oo, Hermann Kirchner Bauunternehmung GmbH, Mosty-Łódź SA and Intercor Sp. Z oo with construction costs in the amount of 1.253 billion zlotys (around 298 million euros at the exchange rate at the time). The contract was signed on October 22, 2008, the handover to traffic on October 28, 2011. The bypass has been expanded with two lanes, each with two lanes and a hard shoulder. As part of the overall project, two sections were created that will become part of the S52 in the future. Until the completion of the Bielsko-Biała -Krzemionki junction as a junction of the S1 from the S52 including the gap between Mysłowice and Bielsko-Biała , these two sections will be signposted as S1. Instead of the node, the traffic is provisionally routed via a connection ramp of the future node, where a maximum speed of 60 km / h is set.

    • The first section, which is around 2.8 km long, runs between the Bielsko-Biała-Rosta and Bielsko-Biała-Komorowice junctions and was expanded as part of Niepodległości Street / State Road 52 to form an expressway.     • The second section, about 1.8 km long, runs from the Bielsko-Biała -Krzemionki junction (still planned) to the newly built Bielsko-Biała-Rosta junction, where state road 52 crosses .
