  • The Droga krajowa 94 (short DK94 , pol. For, national road 94 'respectively, national road 94') is a country road in Poland . It leads from Zgorzelec to Korczowa and represents an alternative route to the west-east A4 motorway in Polish road traffic . The total length is 522 kilometers.

    history

With the reform of the numbering of all state roads on May 9, 2001, the routes running parallel to the toll highways were assigned the numbers 91 to 99. With the completion of the sections of the A4 motorway running parallel to Landesstraße 4, the route from Landesstraße 4 was rededicated to Landesstraße 94. This already happened between Krzywa and Krakow until 2005 , between Zgorzelec and Krzywa in 2009 and between Wieliczka and Targowisko and 2012 between Targowisko and Tarnów . With the complete completion of the A4 on July 20, 2016, the DK94 was extended until shortly before the Ukrainian border.

    Modernizations

In order to reduce the accident rate and improve road safety, the GDDKiA carried out various modernizations along the state road from 2008 as part of the Drogi Zaufania (German: "Trust Roads") program:

    Lower Silesian Voivodeship

In mid-2008 the modernization of the line from Krzywa to Wrocław was announced. The investment should be made by 2010 and cost 400 million złoty. The route was divided into six stages. The width of the carriageway should be widened to seven meters, 3.5 m per lane, in all stages. In the last three stages from Mazurowice to Wrocław, a hard shoulder two meters wide was also to be built.

    1. Krzywa - Chojnów (11 km)
    2. Chojnów - Legnica (14 km)
    3. Legnica - Prochowice (10 km)
    4. Mazurowice - Wilczków (5 km)
The construction work on this stage was carried out by the construction company Berger Bau Polska Sp. Z oo . The completion should take place in August 2010. After there were delays in placing the order due to protests, the construction work was completed at the end of October 2010. The construction costs amounted to 38 million złoty.
    5. Wilczków - Środa Śląska (6.5 km)
The contract for the modernization of this stage was signed with the Przedsiębiorstwa Budownictwa Komunikacyjnego "ABM" Sp. Z oo company in August 2008. Construction work began in September. Completion was planned for August 2009. The construction work was completed with delays by the end of 2009.
    6. Środa Śląska - Wrocław (17.5 km)
At the beginning of 2009, the contract between GDDKiA and the construction company Berger Bau Polska Sp. Z oo was signed. Construction work began in spring 2009 and should be finished by the end of October 2009. With a six-month delay due to numerous additional work, the construction work was completed at the end of May.

The modernization of the first three stages was finally canceled in the spring of 2011 due to a lack of funding and is planned after 2013.

    Opole Voivodeship

The entire stretch of the national road within the Opole Voivodeship (almost 80 km) was modernized in several stages. It was equipped with many measures to improve road safety.

    Silesian Voivodeship

    Independent town of Dąbrowa Górnicza

Within the city limits of Dąbrowa Górnicza, an eight-kilometer section of the state road is being modernized. As part of the investment, u. a. the renewal of the roadways, the construction of a new viaduct over the Voivodship Road 790 and the conversion of crossings are carried out.

The construction contract between the city and the construction companies Banimex and Drog-Bud was signed on April 19, 2013. Construction began in May 2013. Completion is planned for the end of 2014 [obsolete] . The construction costs were set at 165 million zlotys. The total cost of the investment is 195 million złoty, of which 85% (156 million zloty) will be borne by the European Union and 39 million złoty by the city.

    Lesser Poland Voivodeship

Border with the Silesian Voivodeship - Bolesław - Olkusz

This section was divided into the following stages and partially implemented:

    • Border with the Silesian Voivodeship - Bolesław (3 km)
This stage was modernized in 2007 and 2008. The construction work was finished at the end of September 2008.
    • Boleslaw - Olkusz (3.6 km)
This stage was modernized in 2008. Construction began in late July 2008 and was completed in late November 2008. Strabag Sp. Z oo was hired as the construction company . The construction costs amounted to 16.8 million zlotys. As part of the investment, the two carriageways were completely renewed and the sidewalks and bridge structures were converted.
    • Olkusz (4.5 km)
The modernization of this stage should start in 2011. Due to the lack of funding, this investment was postponed.

    Olkusz - Sieniczno - Zederman - Jerzmanowice - Modlnica

This section was divided into the following stages and partially implemented:

    • Olkusz - Sieniczno (1.5 km)
This stage was modernized from spring 2004 to October 2005. The modernization included the construction of two new viaducts and the construction of the second carriageway. The first carriageway was completely renewed and reinforced. The construction costs amounted to 47.2 million zlotys . The construction work was carried out by Mota-Engil Polska SA . The traffic handover took place on October 28, 2005.
    • Sieniczno - Zederman (4.5 km)
This stage was modernized in 2006.
    • Zederman - Jerzmanowice (8 km)
The modernization of this stage began at the end of July 2007 and was originally supposed to last until December 10, 2007. The completion took place in 2008. The construction work was carried out by Eurovia Polska for 25 million zloty. As part of the modernization, u. a. the roadway renewed and reinforced and 15 crossings rebuilt. In addition, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings were built.
    • Jerzmanowice - Modlnica (16 km)
The modernization of this section should take place according to the plans from 2008 to 2013. Due to new plans by the GDDKiA to relocate the state road between Olkusz and Modlnica to a new route with two lanes and four lanes, the modernization plans were canceled. In the opinion of the GDDKiA, it is not possible to expand this and the two previous sections due to the predominant course of the road through built-up areas. The parameters of a main road with accelerated traffic could not be achieved. The local authorities as well as the mayors of the individual municipalities are in favor of expanding the route without adhering to the parameters and criticize a new building that would partly lead through the Ojców National Park and the Dolinki Krakowskie Landscape Park . According to their wishes, the expansion should take place by 2020.

    Modlnica - Modlnica-Radzikowskiego

From 2009 to 2011 a new 2.5 km long section was built in Modlnica near Kraków . In addition, a new Radzikowski junction was created, which creates a connection with the state roads  7 and  79 as well as the S7 expressway . When the traffic was handed over on June 8, 2011, the route of the national road 94 was moved from its old route in Krakow to the Ofiar Katynia roundabout on this new section. The construction work was carried out in the period from February 2009 until the opening of Budimex SA . The construction costs amounted to 157 million zlotys.

    Truck toll

On July 1, 2011, the truck toll was introduced between the eastern end of the city of Dąbrowa Górnicza and the Modlniczka node . This section represents an alternative route to the toll concession section of the A4 from Katowice to Krakow . On July 1, 2012, the newly built section of the national road between the Modlnica and Modlnica-Radzikowskiego nodes was added to the network of toll sections for trucks. The two sections cover a road length of 47.1 kilometers.

Still known as DK4, the truck toll was introduced on July 1, 2011 between the eastern end of the city of Rzeszów and the Tywonia junction near Jarosław . On March 30, 2013, the newly built section of the national road between the Tywonia and Tuczempy junctions was added to the network of sections subject to tolls for trucks as a bypass from Jarosław. The two sections cover a road length of 64.4 kilometers.
