The Droga ekspresowa S12 ( pol. For 'expressway S12') is an expressway in Poland and is intended to connect the Łódź area with Radom , Lublin and Kiev in the Ukraine . From the Lublin-Rudnik node to the border with Ukraine , the S12 will be part of the European route 373 .

    Planning history

The Polish network plans for 1945 and 1946 only contained one line that would branch off the planned Warsaw - Košice connection at Radom and continue via Lublin in the direction of Lviv . In 1963, a connection that could correspond to today's S12 was completely missing from the plan. The section Lodz – Lublin was then included in the plan in 1971. On the other hand, there was still no continuation to the Polish-Soviet border. Five years later, the Lodz – Lublin line was also canceled. Nothing changed about this in the plans for 1985 and 1993 either. In 1996 a connection from Lublin to the Polish-Ukrainian border appeared for the first time. The route from Lodz to Lublin was still missing. In 2001, too, there was only this planning. From 2003, the S12 will finally be included in the network plans as planned today.

    particularities

On April 10, 2006, the self-governments of the Lublin, Łódź and Mazovia Voivodeships founded an association for the construction of the S12 expressway in Radom.

The section between Puławy -Zachód and Puławy-Wisła is designated as state road 12 and will be rededicated to the S12 at a later date.

Between the Kurów -Zachód and Piaski- Wschód junctions, the S12 and S17 run together on the same route. There is also the S19 between Lublin -Sławinek and Lublin-Rudnik .
