Anna von Griesheim (* 1966 in Munich ) is a German fashion designer for women's fashion. Her collections include elegant evening and cocktail dresses as well as day outfits such as coats, blouses and T-shirts. She is best known as the outfitter of some prominent personalities from the German show industry, television world and federal politics.

Life

Anna von Griesheim is the daughter of an engineer (from a noble von Griesheim family named after the town of Griesheim in the Ilm Valley ) and a housewife and painter. She grew up in Munich and later in Wiesbaden . As a child she was already fond of paper dress-up dolls . As a teenager, she first wanted to become an actress, worked alongside other things in the Frankfurt store of Jil Sander and began an apprenticeship as a tailor in the haute couture house " Elise Topell ", founded in Berlin in the 1930s by Elise Topell, who worked there as a was considered one of the most renowned fashion designers. Based in Wiesbaden since 1948, Lollo Grund continued the fashion studio after Topell's death in 1984. She offered Anna von Griesheim an assistant position after her apprenticeship, but in 1989 she moved from Griesheim to Berlin, where her grandparents had already lived. Here she started her own business after an internship with the designer Brigitte Haarke , a year-long pattern training at a private fashion school and drawing lessons.

After her first small collections, which she initially presented to the circle of friends, quickly found acceptance, she opened her own salon in 1991 on Pariser Strasse on Ludwigkirchplatz in the Wilmersdorf district , above which her studio is located. The later renovation of the shop was awarded a prize in the Good Design competition of the German Designer Club (DDC) in 2006 . The atelier employs around ten people. Anna von Griesheim has been represented internationally with her collections since 2000, including in Italy and France. However, so far she has not been seen at the major fashion shows, but instead promotes her brand by appearing in her own evening wear at benefit galas. In addition to her main job, she works as an author. In 2010 her first book was published, which reached the bestseller list of the Börsenblatt des Deutschen Buchhandels. Since then, she has also been giving lectures for women on questions of outfit and appearance in business.

Typical for von Griesheim's fashion is, among other things, a single color and a cut that is diagonal to the grain. The drawn ideal design is usually checked and put directly on the body before completion. The fabrics mostly come from Italy or France, and silk crepe is often used.

Anna von Griesheim has made cloakrooms for a wide variety of theater and show stage sizes as well as television productions, for example for Helen Schneider Anouschka Renzi , Gudrun Landgrebe and Inge Meysel . Her private clients include or include Franziska van Almsick , Katarina Witt , Mariella Ahrens , Friede Springer , Maybrit Illner , Sandra Maischberger , Marietta Slomka , Mareile Höppner , Carola Ferstl , Anja Kling , Gerit Kling , Sabine Christiansen , Andrea Sawatzki , Esther Schweins , Tamara Countess von Nayhauß , Nina Hoss , Sophie von Kessel , Jette Joop , Eva Padberg , Renate Künast . Since Angela Merkel's election as CDU chairman in 2000, von Griesheim has been jointly responsible for the change in her clothing style towards the more modern, which is widely noticed not only in the tabloid media. For example, the delicate salmon-colored evening dress worn by Merkel for the opening of the Bayreuth Festival in July 2005 became more popular. Since winning the federal election in autumn 2005, Bettina Schoenbach from Hamburg has been the new main designer of Merkel's wardrobe, but the Chancellor continues to wear items designed by Anna von Griesheim in new arrangements. Such a new arrangement, which Merkel wore at the opening of the new Oslo Opera House , caused a sensation in the media in 2008 because of the deep cleavage.
