Griesheim (including semolina Home, Grisheim) is the name of the Thuringian Uradelsgeschlechts from the mansfeldisch-merseburgisch-querfurtischen room, which was located in the Black TPF. The parent company of the same name Schloss Griesheim is located in Griesheim near Arnstadt an der Ilm.

history

The family is said to have appeared for the first time in 1050 with Wittilo de Grizheim, with which they claim the same ancestors as the noble family Griessheim for themselves. The family first appeared in a document with Widelo de Griezheim in 1133. In a register of the von Griesheim family from 1712, it says about his brother: “His brother Sitzo remained the Saracens during the war as Kayser's Lotharii dear faithful and land-graff Ludewig's brave affiftente near Arnstadt.” This document contains the family tree listed until 1642. Mentions about the family are often related to the Paulinzella monastery and the Counts of Schwarzburg.

In 2017, a grave slab from the 13th century was discovered in the floor of the upper church in Arnstadt, which shows the coat of arms of the Lords of Griesheim with the sword of a knight and a flower relief. The prominent place in the aisle chapel of the first building near the altar there allows to see in the buried an important donor of the Franciscan settlement in Arnstadt and their first church building.

On February 3, 1332 Heinrich von Griesheim, canon and provost of the Wechterswinkel monastery ( Rhön-Grabfeld ) testified in a document. The exhibitors are Johannes and Adelheit von Windheim , the recipients are the abbot and convent of Erbach Abbey.

The author Johann Heinrich Zedler writes in his Universal Lexikon (1732–1754) about the v. Griesheims: "In the past, the family also settled on the Rhine." Regesta A1 No. 236/1 and B3 No. 2 of the Hessian State Archives in Darmstadt could prove this statement. On June 2, 1252, Frankenstein Castle in Nieder-Beerbach in the Odenwald was first mentioned in a document. In this document u. a. listed as witnesses: Sigfrid and Johann von Griesheim, Burgmannen of Konrad Reiz von Breuberg . Sigfrid enters Dornberg Castle on May 17, 1257 in a document from Count Dither v. Katzenelnbogen as a witness. In the regests of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen, Vol. 1, Vol. 3, Vol. 4, other family members are named. However, recent research has shown that this is probably another noble family with the name v. Griesheim acts.

The uninterrupted line of trunks begins with Kurt Apel von Griesheim (1548–1626), on Griesheim and Dörnfeld an der Ilm. In the Fruit-Bringing Society , Heinrich Christoph von Griesheim was “The Input One” and Wolff Melchior von Griesheim was “The Ready One”. Conrad Heinrich (1629–1665) was court and judiciary and Merseburg cathedral dean, and Günther was Naumburg cathedral provost and Zeitzer councilor.
