Wolfgang Kuenzel
Wolfgang Künzel (born July 28, 1936 in Zwickau ) is a German gynecologist and obstetrician.
Life
Wolfgang Künzel began to study medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg . In 1955 he became active in the Corps Teutonia Marburg . When he was inactive , he moved to the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . There he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He completed his specialist training and in 1971 became senior physician at the Hanover Medical School . There he completed his habilitation in 1971. After a research stay from 1976 to 1979 at the State University of New York , he went to the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg as a senior physician . In 1980 he was appointed to the chair for gynecology and obstetrics at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen as one of the youngest C4 professors . He was director of the Gießen University Women's Clinic until his retirement in 2002. Hans-Rudolf Tinneberg was appointed as his successor .
Künzel was a member of the university's ethics committee as well as a member of numerous national and international societies and commissions and experts in the state medical association. He was co-editor in Chief of the European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Biology and co-editor of the journal Der Gynäkologe .
From 1994 to 1996 he was President of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics . In his last year of presidency he organized the gynecological congress in Dresden.
