Karl-Heinrich Wulf

Karl-Heinrich Wulf (born January 23, 1928 in Kiel ; † December 5, 2016 in Würzburg ) was a German gynecologist and obstetrician .

Life

Karl-Heinrich Wulf studied medicine at the Universities of Kiel and Freiburg . In Kiel he completed his time as a medical assistant from 1953 to 1955 . In 1953 he was with the theme "A contribution to the morphology of diffuse tumors of the soft membranes" doctorate . From 1956 to 1969 he worked as an assistant at the Kiel University Women's Clinic under Ernst Philipp and Herbert Huber . In 1965, Wulf completed a study visit to the Nuffield Institute for Fetal Research in Oxford and the Department of Physiology at St. Mary Hospital Medical School in London .

In 1969 he was appointed as the successor to Egon Fauvet as a full professor at the Hannover Medical School . From 1969 to 1973 he was director of the women's clinic there . He did not accept an appointment to Düsseldorf , but on April 1, 1973, accompanied by some “Hanoverian assistants”, he succeeded Horst Schwalm as director of the Würzburg University Women's Clinic , which he headed until 1996. In 1996, after 23 years of service, Wulf handed the clinic over to Johannes Dietl .

Wulf's scientific focus was on perinatology, placental physiology, newborn adaptation, high-risk pregnancy and surgical obstetrics as well as gynecological morphology. Wulf was the 44th President of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics and organized the 1982 congress in Munich .

Honors

Karl-Heinrich Wulf was an honorary member of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics. On October 5, 2010, he was also honored with the Carl Kaufmann Medal of the Society.
