The Muskegon Lumberjacks were an American ice hockey team based in Muskegon , Michigan . The team played from 1992 to 2010 in the International Hockey League (Colonial Hockey League until 1997, United Hockey League from 1997 to 2007).

history

The team was founded in 1992 under the name Muskegon Fury as a franchise of the Colonial Hockey League . The team kept this name until 2008 when they changed the name to Muskegon Lumberjacks based on the team of the same name , which was active in the International Hockey League from 1984 to 1992 and whose place they took after its dissolution in the city. In the league, which was renamed the United Hockey League in 1997 and the International Hockey League in 2007, the Fury / Lumberjacks were among the most successful franchises. They won the Colonial Cup four times (1999, 2002, 2004 and 2005) as champions of the league, and twice the Tarry Cup (1999 and 2005) as the team with the highest points in the regular season.

Following the 2009/10 season, the Lumberjacks stopped playing. Her place was taken by a franchise of the same name of the United States Hockey League junior league .
