The Port Huron Border Cats were an American ice hockey team based in Port Huron , Michigan . The team played from 1996 to 2002 in the Colonial Hockey League (from 1997 United Hockey League).
history
The franchise of the Detroit Falcons in 1996 by Fraser relocated within the state of Michigan to Port Huron and renamed Port Huron Border Cats. In the regular season, the team was one of the most constant in the league in the six years of its existence, but never got beyond the second round in the playoffs for the Colonial Cup . They only achieved this in the 1999/2000 season. In their first three seasons, the Border Cats were eliminated in the first round, in their last two seasons they missed the playoffs completely. The franchise was then dissolved.
The void that the Border Cats left in the city in 2002 was filled by the Port Huron Beacons , who joined the United Hockey League as an expansion team for the 2002/03 season .
