Fyodor Wiktorowitsch Fjodorow ( Russian Фёдор Викторович Фёдоров , born June 11, 1981 in Apatity , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HK Lada Tolyatti in the Continental Hockey League . He is the younger brother of Sergei Fyodorov .
Career
Fyodor Fyodorov began his playing career in the United Hockey League in Port Huron before moving to the Ontario Hockey League for the Windsor Spitfires in 1999 . In the same year he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round in 182nd place, but was not signed until 2001. Therefore, he came back into the draft and was drawn in 2001 by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round in 66th place. They initially used him in their farm teams in the minor leagues . He missed most of the 2001-02 season due to an eye injury sustained in an ECHL game for the Columbia Inferno . In the following season he made his NHL debut for the Canucks, but most of the season and the following season he played again for the Manitoba Moose . During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL , Fyodorov played for HK Spartak Moscow and HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk .
In October 2005, the Canucks exchanged him with the New York Rangers for Jozef Balej and a draft pick. A short time later, on October 14, 2005, he made his debut for the Rangers in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks , but he again played most games for the Rangers farm teams. Therefore, he decided to move back home and was signed by Lokomotive Yaroslavl in July 2006 . At the end of the season he completed 18 games for the Malmö Redhawks in the Swedish Elitserien or Kvalserien , in which he was able to achieve 20 points scorer. HK Dynamo Moscow signed him for the 2007/08 season , where he had one of the best seasons of his career. In the summer of 2008, the New Jersey Devils signed him from the NHL, but deleted him from the roster after the training camp. Since Fyodorov did not want to play again in the North American Minor Leagues , he returned to Russia , where he signed a contract with Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk from the Continental Hockey League . After only one year, like his brother Sergei, he moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk .
In October 2010 he returned to Neftechimik before he was signed by SKA Saint Petersburg in May 2011. For the SKA he then completed over 100 KHL games, with a high number of penalty minutes being particularly noticeable. After the 2012/13 season, his contract with SKA expired and Fyodor Fyodorov was signed for two years by his brother Sergei, who was now General Manager of HK CSKA Moscow . However, the CSKA did not fulfill this contract because it dissolved it in April 2014. As a result, Fyodorov was without a club before he was signed by HK Lada Tolyatti in October of the same year .
International
Fyodor Fyodorov has been appointed to the Russian national team at two major tournaments . He played the U18 World Championship in 1999 and the Men's World Championship in 2005 , where the Russian selection won the bronze medal.
