Port Huron is a city in St. Clair County in the state of Michigan in the United States and also its county seat . The city is adjacent to the township of the same name , but administratively independent. In 2000 the city had 32,338 inhabitants.

The area of ​​the city is 31.7 km², of which 20.9 km² is land and 10.8 km² (= 33.99%) is water.

The city is located at the southern end of Lake Huron and is also the easternmost community in Michigan. It belongs to an area of ​​Michigan known as the Thumb . The Blue Water Bridge connects Port Huron with Sarnia , Ontario in Canada . This crosses the St. Clair River and connects the Canadian Highway 402 to the US highways Interstate 69 and Interstate 94 .

The Michigan State Route 25 follows an arc of the shoreline of Saginaw Bay of Lake and connects Port Huron with Bay City .

The Canadian National railway company operates a railway tunnel under the St. Clair River which, due to the strict border formalities of the Americans, is only used by freight trains, but no longer by long-distance Amtrak trains on the Chicago-Toronto route.
