Port Huron Township is a township in St. Clair County , Michigan in the United States . In 2000 there were 8,615 people living in the township; the projection of the Census Bureau for 2006 resulted in 11,066 inhabitants. The City of Port Huron is next to it, but is administratively independent.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has an area of 33.9 km² , of which 33.5 km² is land and 0.4 km² (= 1.37%) is water.
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, the township inhabited 8,615 people. The population density was 257.5 people per km². There were 3478 housing units at an average of 269.1 per km ². The population consisted of 93.63% of White , 3.46% Black or African American , 0.62% Native American , 0.35% Asian , 0.02% Pacific Islander , 0.62% said other races to belong and 1.31% named two or more races. 2.46% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of the township were distributed to 3310 households out of which 34.2% had children under 18 years of age. 58.2% of households were married, 11.7% had a female head of the household without a husband and 26.2% were not families. 20.6% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.3% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 2.97.
The urban population was divided into 25.8% minors, 7.7% 18–24 year olds, 30.4% 25–44 year olds, 23.6% 45–64 year olds and 12.5% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 women there were 97.3 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 95.0 men.
The median household income of the township was 43,978 US dollars and the median family income reached the amount of 50,978 US dollars. The median income for men was $ 44,024 versus $ 23,478 for women. The per capita income reached $ 21,583. 7.4% of the population and 4.9% of families had an income below the poverty line , including 7.9% of minors and 5.7% of those aged 65 and over.
