SUMo is freeware available in 17 languages for analyzing and updating installed software. The name stands for Software Update Monitor . The program is available for Microsoft Windows .

Functions

Similar to an auto-update program, the software provides the latest updates ("updates") and error corrections ("patches") of the installed software. To do this, the program draws on a database of over 90,000 entries, in which the users can participate by drawing attention to new versions and programs. In addition, individual programs can be specifically checked by dragging an EXE file into the SUMo program window with the mouse button pressed.

The program lacks a direct download link for the updates found; instead you have to search for it yourself on the internet. Clicking on the Get update button only takes the user to a website with statistics on how many users are using which version.

Relevant knowledge

Because SUMo installed the spyware program Relevant Knowledge , it came under fire. The spyware starts every time the computer is started and sends unsolicited information to the manufacturer. This is why some virus scanners recognize it as spyware during installation and stop the installation completely.

Advertising programs

Since version 2.10.5.102 , in addition to Relevant Knowledge, the Facemoods programs and other advertising programs are also offered for installation.
