history

The franchise of Utica Blizzard of the United Hockey League in 1997 of Utica , New York , to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, moved and renamed Winston-Salem IceHawks. Their premiere season ended the team in fourth place in the East Division and missed the playoffs. They achieved this for the first and only time after third place in the Eastern Division in the 1998/99 season, but were already eliminated in the first round with 1: 4 wins in the best-of-seven series against the eventual champions Muskegon Fury out.

Following the 1998/99 season, the franchise was relocated to Glens Falls , New York, where it then took part in the UHL game operations under the name Adirondack IceHawks . In Glens Falls they replace the Adirondack Red Wings from the American Hockey League , which had been dissolved that same year.
