The Port Huron Icehawks were an American ice hockey franchise based in Port Huron , Michigan . The team played in the International Hockey League from 2007 to 2010 . They played their home games in the McMorran Arena . The Icehawks were owned by Larry Kinney, owner and general manager of Howell's DataPak Services Corporation.

history

The Port Huron Icehawks were founded in 2007 as a franchise of the International Hockey League . In this, their greatest success was reaching the Turner Cup final in the 2007/08 season, in which they failed with 3: 4 wins in the best-of-seven series at the Fort Wayne Komets . Previously, they had finished second in the regular season. In the 2008/09 season, the Icehawks were again runner-up in the regular season, whereupon their head coach Stan Drulia was named IHL Coach of the Year . The team was also recognized for its achievements on and off the ice this season and received the IHL Franchise of the Year award . Following the 2009/10 season, the franchise was dissolved.
