The Danbury Trashers were an American ice hockey team from Danbury , Connecticut . The team played in the United Hockey League from 2004 to 2006 .

history

The team was over 2004 franchise of the United Hockey League was founded. After the team had failed in their premiere season in the second playoff round for the Colonial Cup, they first reached first place in the Eastern Division in the 2005/06 season, before they then in the playoff final after victories over the Quad City Mallards and Muskegon Fury lost to the Kalamazoo Wings with 1: 4 wins in the best-of-seven series.

Following the 2005/06 season, the franchise was dissolved. This was preceded by a fraud scandal in which 29 members of the franchise were involved. Those responsible had illegally expanded the salary cap by three times what was allowed. The void the team left in the city was filled in 2008 by the Danbury Mad Hatters of the Eastern Professional Hockey League .
