The Port Huron Flags were an American ice hockey team based in Port Huron , Michigan . The team played in the United Hockey League from 2005 to 2007 .

history

The team was founded in 2005 as a franchise of the United Hockey League was founded. In Port Huron, they replaced the void left in the city by the Port Huron Border Cats , who were relocated in the same year . The team itself was named after a team of the same name that was active in the International Hockey League from 1962 to 1981 . In their premiere season, the flags took fifth and thus last place in the Central Division. In the 2006/07 season they improved to fourth in their division, which they qualified for the playoffs for the Colonial Cup . In these they were already defeated in the first round by the Muskegon Fury in the best-of-seven series with a sweep .

In May 2007, negotiations between the team owners about a sale failed, whereupon the team officially ceased playing on May 18, 2007. They were replaced by the Port Huron Icehawks , who competed from 2007 to 2010 in the league, which has now been renamed the International Hockey League.
