Travis John "TJ" Sakaluk (born April 27, 1983 in Hamilton , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who is currently under contract with EHC Dortmund from the major league .

Career

Sakaluk began his career in 2001 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Junior Hockey League , where he was under contract with the Bramalea Blues. After he was able to achieve 28 scorer points in 30 games, he left the club and switched to league rivals Oakville Blades during the season. In the blades, the left-handed shooter ended the season and came up with another 19 points in 20 games. In the summer of 2004 Sakaluk began his studies at the State University of New York at Potsdam . For the local ice hockey team, he also played in the third division of the NCAA college association . In total, he was on the ice for the university for two years and was able to score 63 times in 50 games.

For the 2006/07 season he signed a contract with the Chicago Hounds from the United Hockey League , which he left after only three games and a little later joined the Port Huron Flags . Another station followed at the ECHL club Toledo Storm . The season 2007/08 Sakaluk also spent at three different clubs. After he first laced up his skates for the Austin Ice Bats from the Central Hockey League , he forced a move to Europe. There, the people in charge of the Norwegian club Manglerud Star Ishockey became aware of the offensive player and transferred him to Norway . After only four missions and six points scored, he ended his engagement in Europe again and returned to North America, where he was in the squad of the South Carolina Stingrays from the ECHL for the rest of the season .

In the summer of 2008, the center forward moved to the Dutch Eredivisie for the Nijmegen Devils . In Nijmegen , the native Canadian was one of the top performers and top scorers within his team. So he was able to achieve 35 goals and another 36 assists in 39 league games . After his contract expired at the end of the 2008/09 season, he followed his coach Frank Gentges and joined the EHC Dortmund from the league for the 2009/10 season .
