Luke Sellars (born May 21, 1981 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . He played a game in the National Hockey League for the Atlanta Thrashers and was active in the German Ice Hockey League for the Iserlohn Roosters .

Career

Luke Sellar's career began in 1998 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67’s . The Atlanta Thrashers from the National Hockey League secured the rights to Sellars in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in the second round in 30th place. In 2002 he signed his first professional contract there. Sellars was able to work his way up to the NHL team through Atlanta's farm teams Greenville Grrrowl from the ECHL and Chicago Wolves from the American Hockey League , but only played one game for the Thrashers.

Sellars spent the following two years mainly with the Chicago Wolves. Due to personal problems, he suspended the 2004/05 season completely and then started a continuation of his career with the Danbury Trashers in the UHL. The season 2006/07 Sellars played with the Rødovre Mighty Bulls in the Danish first division. There he scored 8 goals in a total of 29 games and provided templates for 15 goals, and he also collected 252 penalty minutes. He spent the beginning of the 2007/08 season with the Iserlohn Roosters in the DEL after being able to recommend himself for a contract during a try-out phase. On October 2, 2007, it was announced that the club was forced to dismiss him without notice for disciplinary reasons. He then moved to the Slovakian extra league for MHC Martin . After only two games, he moved to HC Innsbruck in Austria in early 2008 and played there for the rest of the season. In the 2008/09 season , the defender for Jokipojat from the Mestis was on the ice. The following season the left shooter spent with the Texas Brahmas from the Central Hockey League . Then he ended his career.
