Jokipojat ( Joensuun Kiekko ry. ) Is a Finnish ice hockey club from Joensuu , which was founded in 1953 and plays in the Mestis . The team plays their home games in the 4800-seat Mehtimäden jäähalli .

In 1989, 1991 and 2010 the team won the Mestis championship . The club spent the 1989/90 and 1991/92 seasons in the SM-liiga , the highest Finnish league. After each season, however, the direct relegation to the Mestis took place. In the 2000/01 season, the team rose to the third highest division, the Suomi-sarja , for the first time . The team was then active for three years in the Suomi-sarja and was able to book their first win in the third-highest league in the 2003/04 season. This resulted in the return to the second-class Mestis, in which the team has played since then.

A former short name of Jokipojat (German river boys ) is JoKP for Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat (German Joensuus Puck boys ).
