Rovaniemen Kiekko ( RoKi for short ) is a Finnish ice hockey club from Rovaniemi that was founded in 1979 and has been back in the Mestis since 2015 . The team plays its home games in the Lappi-areena .

history

Rovaniemen Kiekko was founded in 1979 and was initially a pure amateur and youth club. In the 1990s the number of members increased and the first team of the club made it into the II-divisioona . In this the club played with varying success. In 2002 the men's team's game operations were outsourced to a company called RoKi-79 Hockey Oy.

In 2009 RoKi rose to the Mestis , the second Finnish division, but only reached 12th place in this and was relegated to the Suomi-sarja. In the 2011/12 season, RoKi moved into the group runner-up in the promotion round to Mestis, but missed promotion in this.

In 2015 the club returned to the Mestis.
