Andrij Wassyljowytsch Srjubko ( Ukrainian Андрій Васильович Срюбко , Russian Андрей Васильевич Срюбко / Andrei Vasilyevich Srjubko * 21st October 1975 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian hockey player , who for many years in the North American minor leagues and the Russian Super League was active . Since 2016 he has been the assistant coach of HK Donbass Donetsk in the Ukrainian ice hockey league .

Career

Andrij Srjubko began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the HK Sokol Kiev , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1993/94 season . Then the defender went to North America, where he was a season for the Kamloops Blazers , who had drawn him in the CHL Import Draft 1994 in the 1st round as 39th player, in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League was active. From 1996 to 2002 the Ukrainian was under contract with several lower-class North American professional teams. In the International Hockey League he played for Las Vegas Thunder , Fort Wayne Komets , Utah Grizzlies and Grand Rapids Griffins , in the United Hockey League for the Port Huron Border Cats and in the American Hockey League for Syracuse Crunch .

From 2002 to 2004 Srjubko was active for Molot-Prikamje Perm and Amur Khabarovsk in the Russian Super League. At the same time, he played a total of 21 games for his former Ukrainian club HK Sokol Kiev in the transnational East European Hockey League . With the HK MWD Tver from the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, the right-handed shooter reached promotion to the Superleague as a second division champion in the 2004/05 season. However, he ended the following season again in Kiev, this time in the Belarusian extra league . From 2006 to 2009, the national player was again in the Wysschaja Liga on the ice, in which he competed for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , HK Dmitrov and HK Sokol Kiev. In 2009 he won the Ukrainian championship with Sokol . In the 2009/10 season he played with Sokol Kiev in the Belarusian extra league. For the 2010/11 season he first signed a contract with the newly founded HK Budiwelnik Kiev from the Continental Hockey League . After this could not start playing in the KHL due to delays in the stadium renovation, he stayed with Sokol Kiev in the extra league.

For the 2011/12 season Srjubko returned to his ex-club Molot-Prikamje Perm in the second Russian division, the Vysschaya Hockey League , which had been newly founded a year earlier . After the 2012/13 season, which he spent at HK Kuban Krasnodar , he ended his career.

International

For Ukraine , Srjubko took part in the junior division at the Junior B World Championship in 1994 . For the seniors, he ran at the World Championships in Division I in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 and in the World Championships in the Top Division in 2001 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 . Furthermore, he was in his country's squad at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .

Coaching career

After the end of his active career, Srjubko went into the coaching business. First he was assistant coach of the MHK Dmitrov in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga B in 2013/14 . In 2014 he was assistant coach for the Ukrainian U20 national team and general manager of the men's national team . Since 2016 he has also been working as an assistant coach at HK Donbass Donetsk in the Ukrainian ice hockey league. At the U20 World Cup in 2018 , he was the head coach of the Ukrainian juniors in Group B of Division I.
