Ukrainian champion (ice hockey)
The Ukrainian ice hockey champion is determined in the Ukrainian ice hockey league (until 2009 Wyschtscha Liha (Вища ліга, Vyscha Liha )), the highest ice hockey league in Ukraine . The league was established after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1992. The champion qualifies for participation in the first qualifying round of the Champions Hockey League 2009/2010.
The previous record champion is HK Sokol Kiev , who won twelve of 18 possible championship titles. Until 2011, the Ukrainian championship title was played in the Ukrainian ice hockey league . Between 2011 and 2012 the winner of the Professional Hockey League (PHL) received the championship title. Since the dissolution of the PHL, the champions have been played again in the Ukrainian ice hockey league.
