The 1998/99 season was the sixth season of the Ukrainian Ice Hockey League , the highest Ukrainian ice hockey division . Champion became the fifth time in the history of the HK Sokol Kiev club .

In the main round, each of the eight teams played a total of 14 games. The top three teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. HK Sokol Kiev was the only team that qualified directly for the playoffs. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
