Professional hockey league

The Professional Hockey League ( PHL for short ; Ukrainian Професіональна хокейна ліга ) was the top ice hockey division in Ukraine between 2011 and 2013 . The league replaced the semi-professional Ukrainian ice hockey league in 2011 . In 2013, the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Association took control of the top division again after the 2012/13 season was marked by numerous withdrawals, game ratings and scandals.

history

Following the 2010/11 season , it was decided to found a professional ice hockey league in Ukraine. This was named Professional Hockey League and began playing with eight teams in the 2011/12 season . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the professional teams of Ukraine regularly played in the Vysschaya League , the second Russian division, and the Belarusian extra league . While HK Sokol Kiev left the Extraliga on the occasion of the establishment of the PHL, HK Donbass Donetsk was accepted into the new second Russian division, the Wysschaja Hockey League , founded a year earlier, and took part in the PHL's game operations with his second team .
