The Belarusian Extraliga ( Russian Белорусская экстралига ) is the top ice hockey league in Belarus , the current champion of which is HK Nyoman Hrodna . The record champions are HK Junost Minsk with eight championships, followed by HK Njoman Hrodna with seven championships. The eternal table of the Extraliga led after the 2008/09 season of HK Keramin Minsk ahead of city rivals HK Junost Minsk.
In 2004 the league was opened to foreign teams, but closed again in 2007. As part of the founding of the Continental Hockey League , the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association opened the Extraliga, the second division Vysschaja Liga and the junior leagues again for foreign teams from the 2008/09 season. Most of the foreign participants came from Latvia or the Ukraine. B. the HK Sokol Kiev . Since the 2013/14 season only Belarusian teams have participated.
The Belarusian U20 national team has also been taking part in the competition since the 2016/17 season . She plays in the Tschyschouka Arena in Minsk .
