The 1996/97 season was the fifth season of the Belarusian Extraliga , the highest Belarusian ice hockey division . Master was for the second time in the club's history Polimir Navapolatsk .

Main round

In the main round, each of the four teams played a total of twelve games. The first place in the main round was champion. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
