The Yunost Minsk ( Belarusian ХК Юнацтва-Мінск , Russian ХК Йуност Минск ) is a Belarusian ice hockey club from Minsk . The team plays in the Extraliga , the highest ice hockey league in Belarus.
history
The association was founded in 1975. Since 1993 he has participated in the Belarusian extra league. In 1995 he was accepted into the East European Hockey League , but continued to take part in the Extraliga. From 2001 he played again only in the extra league. In 2004 he was the first of seven times Belarusian champion . The other championships were 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2019. In addition, the team won the Belarusian cup competition and the IIHF Continental Cup in 2006/07 and 2010/11 in 2004 . In 2012, the club was included with one team in the second-rate Russian Vysschaja Hockey League . In 2013, however, he resigned from it and has since returned exclusively to the Belarusian extra league. After reaching the playoff semi-finals in 2014, the final was even reached in 2015, but that was lost with four defeats against HK Schachzjor Salihorsk .
In 2016 , HK Junost won the Belarusian championship for the seventh time. In 2017 and 2018 the club reached the playoff final again, in which it was defeated by HK Njoman Hrodna . In 2019 Junost won the eighth Belarusian championship title in the club's history, making it the record champion in Belarus. The ninth title was won in 2020.
Venue
The club's home games were played in the Kritij Katok ice rink in Gorky Park until 2013 . The ice rink was completed in 1976 based on designs by the architects Yuri Grigoryev and Vladimir Babashkina . In addition to the large ice surface measuring 28.5 by 59 meters, there is another training ice surface measuring 8.5 by 19 meters under the roof of the ice rink. The stands of the ice rink offer space for 767 spectators. In the basement of the building there are changing rooms, storage and technical facilities.
For the 2014 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships which was Chizhovka-Arena built, is since then venue of Junost.
