Oleh Leonidowytsch Schafarenko ( Ukrainian Олег Леонідович Шафаренко , Russian Олег Леонидович Шафаренко / Oleg Leonidovich Schafarenko * 31 October 1981 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian hockey player , who has been in 2015 again at Yunost Minsk in Belarusian Extraliga of on the position Striker plays.
Career
Schafarenko first played in his hometown at HK Sokol Kiev both in the Wyschtscha Liha , as well as in the East European Hockey League . In this he also played a few games for HK Berkut Kiew , HK Kiew and HK Ldinka Kiew until 2002 . In the period up to summer 2003 he won the EEHL title with Sokol in 1999 and the Ukrainian championship title in the same year . In the 2001/02 season he was behind his teammate Ruslan Besschasny the second-best scorer of the Wyschtscha Liha.
At the beginning of the 2003/04 season, the striker moved to Russia and was active for HK Spartak Moscow in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga . However, he returned to Sokol Kiev before the end of the season, so that he won the second championship title with the team in spring 2004. In the summer of 2004, Schafarenko left the team again. He moved to HK Chimwolokno Mahiljou in the Belarusian extra league for two years . With good performances he drew the attention of league rivals HK Dinamo Minsk , who signed him for a year. Despite winning the Belarusian championship , he left the club in the summer of 2007 and joined city rivals HK Keramin Minsk , with whom he achieved the double of championship and cup wins in 2008 .

But Schafarenko only stayed one year with Keramin, since he returned to his native Kiev. With Sokol Kiev he won his third Ukrainian championship in spring 2009. This was followed by another year at HK Dinamo Minsk, who now played in the Continental Hockey League . At the same time, he also ran for their farm team , HK Shakhtsor Salihorsk , in the Belarusian extra league. With Salihorsk he was Belarusian runner-up before he moved to HK Junost Minsk . With the capital city club, he was again Belarusian champion in 2011 and also won the IIHF Continental Cup . For the 2011/12 season he returned to his Ukrainian homeland and received a contract with HK Donbass Donetsk from the Vysschaja Hockey League . After only one year in Donetsk, he moved back to Junost Minsk. After playing with the Belarusians in the Wysschaya Hockey League, he joined his team in the Extraliga in 2013 , and in 2014 he became the top scorer and best preparer of the league. In 2014 he joined the HK Saryarka Karaganda from Kazakhstan, with whom he again competed in the Vysschaja Hockey League. But after a year Junost Minsk returned to the extra league and was once again the Belarusian champion with the club.
International
Schafarenko represented his home country in both the junior and senior sectors. For the first time he played with the Ukrainian selection at the U18 World Junior Championship in 1999 . A year later he ran at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2000 . The senior team was active in the 2006 and 2007 World Championships . He also wore the national jersey at the World Championships in Division I in 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 and 2016 . In 2009 he was elected to the All-Star Team at the end of the tournament . In 2011 he was the second best scorer of the tournament behind his compatriot Oleksandr Materuchin with three goals and five assists . In 2013, with two goals and eight assists, he was the best scorer with his compatriot Oleh Tymtschenko and also the best preparer of the tournament with the Lithuanian Daniel Bogdziul .
He also took on Ukraine in the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi in part, resigned with his team but each in the second qualifying round.
