Football clubs against RIGHT

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Football clubs against RIGHT is a Düren initiative that was founded in 2001 after racist attacks by neo-Nazis on a youth football team from Niederau . The initiative tries to counter the problem of extremism , xenophobia and racism with various campaigns such as “Four screws for moral courage”, “Photos against the law” and “We do not rent to Nazis” and presence at youth and senior tournaments. In September 2011, the "Integration through goals" award was launched. This honors individuals or football teams from Düren who are particularly committed to integration and oppose racism. “Football clubs against RIGHT” is a co-founder of the group “Düren Alliance against Right-Wing Extremism, Racism and Violence” and the initiative “Our Memories Against Extremism, Racism and Violence”.

The "FOUR SCREWS FOR CIVIL COURAGE" campaign is the poster campaign of the Düren initiative. Football clubs all over Germany can put up a free, weatherproof Dibond sign with the inscription "No space for racism and violence" to be attached to their sports grounds. This serves to sensitize the audience, players and officials. As of August 2017, over 1000 (!) Clubs took part.

The initiative was awarded the Julius Hirsch Prize by the DFB in 2008 , the Federal Government awarded the “ Active for Democracy and Toleranceprize in 2003 and 2010, and the German Newspaper Citizens Prize in 2016.
