The HK Zemgale (also JLSS Zemgale ) is a Latvian ice hockey club from Jelgava , who returned to the since 2010 Latvian Hockey League participates.

history

The club was founded in 2001 in Jelgava and took part in the Latvian ice hockey league as ASK Zemgale Jelgava from 2002. At the same time, a game community Hanza / Zemgale Jelgava took part in the second division of Latvia. In the 2003/03 season, the men's team played in parallel in Division B of the East European Hockey League . By the end of the 2004/05 season, the men's team belonged to the first division, but then withdrew from this due to financial problems.

Afterwards, only amateur and junior teams took part in the game. In 2010, the club again provided a men's team in the Latvian ice hockey league.
