history

Former club logo

Zagłębie Sosnowiec's ice hockey department was established in 1934. The team had by far their most successful period in the early 1980s, when they won the Polish championship five times within six years . In the following years, the team remained a fixture in the Ekstraliga , but has not been able to build on previous successes. After the 2012/13 season, the team withdrew from the Ekstraliga and competed in the second-class I league for the next two years . In the 2015/16 season, the club played in the Ekstraliga again, but then moved back to the I-league. Since 2018, the team has been playing in the top division again, where it was able to hold out over the playouts in the first year.
